Impact Others With Your Startup

Creating goals and dreams is crucial in life. Without them, a sense of purpose dies, which can lead to floating around and not knowing which direction to go. It keeps you from creating that generation-defining startup or jumping on an up-and-coming venture as an investor.

Goals and dreams keep us motivated and they lead to success. While goals and dreams can typically be about yourself, that might not be the best approach in the long run.

To get a better understanding of that, I have for you today a list of three reasons why your goals shouldn’t be solely about yourself.

1. You Might Not Feel Satisfied

There are many reasons why you might not be as satisfied as expected when you achieve your goals as an investor or entrepreneur. Some aren’t necessarily bad, but this one unfortunately falls under that category.

While setting goals is crucial no matter who you are, sometimes we make goals for the wrong reasons. If your goals are centered around money or perhaps just yourself, you’re likely not going to be satisfied at the end of the journey.

Money truly does not buy happiness. Yes, it’s part of the equation, but it’s not the only ingredient.

In a nutshell, helping people out through your business can make you feel just as good as the person you are helping out, so everyone wins.

2. If You Don’t Help Other People, Who Will?

If your goals only feature yourself, you’re only helping out one person.

It’s natural in the entrepreneurial cycle to make goals that only benefit yourself. However, at the end of the day, we all want to make a difference. That’s why we have to expand our horizons and start thinking about the bigger picture, a place that features everyone.

Think of this like the bystander effect. With the bystander effect, people won’t help someone who could be in danger because they think someone else is going to help.

Step up to the plate, swing away and help friends, family members or anyone else by incorporating these people into your startup goals.

3. You Have to Look at the Bigger Picture

Let’s face it: Many of us live in our own heads. That’s the place where we keep dreams, after all.

As a result, we picture perfect scenarios — a venture capitalist will fully fund my startup campaign or maybe my business will start trending online — but when these scenarios start to finally materialize, expectations and reality tend to battle.

Expectations and reality are two different things, and we sometimes don’t realize that until reality rears its head. While having expectations is a must, we also have to keep an open mind and be realistic in the process.

The ultimate goal is to be happy, healthy and successful. However, you can’t have those things if you’re going at life alone. With that said, if you have achieved these goals and everyone around you is struggling, what’s the point?

You can’t expect this world to get better if you aren’t willing to get your hands dirty as well. Be the change that this planet so desperately needs.

Stay Hungry

As I referenced in the beginning, in life it’s important to make goals and to have big dreams.

Goals and dreams are the things that keep us going. They keep us motivated when we are happy or sad, when we want more or when we don’t have enough. There are times when we achieve our goals but we aren’t as satisfied as expected.
